We recently completed a comprehensive tile roof project in Rescue, California, addressing key structural components to ensure long-lasting protection and enhanced performance. The project began by carefully removing the old tile roof, which showed signs of wear and aging. Once the roof deck was exposed, we removed the existing underlayment and battens, both of which are critical to the roof’s durability and water resistance. We installed a high-quality synthetic underlayment, which offers superior moisture barrier properties compared to traditional felt paper. This underlayment provides enhanced protection against leaks and extends the overall lifespan of the roof system. Next, we upgraded to a corrugated batten system—a significant improvement over flat battens. These corrugated battens create better ventilation under the tiles, allowing air to circulate freely, which helps prevent moisture buildup and reduces the risk of dry rot. This system also improves the overall structural integrity by providing stronger support for the tiles, ensuring better resistance to shifting or damage from wind and weather. Finally, we installed the elegant and durable Eagle Capistrano concrete S tiles.
